Why Halloween should be enjoyed

Every year it comes in October, the one holiday where you can see ghost and ghouls wander through the night. Sometimes called All Hallows’ Eve or All Saints’ Eve. It’s Halloween.

The holiday is a favorite time for me because of memories of dressing up like superheroes and movie characters and getting free candy. But some people say that this holiday is just a manufactured holiday used to make money for companies.

I disagree with this because Halloween wasn’t invented in America unlike Valentine’s Day and  Mother’s Day. Halloween has a rich history dating back to Ireland and the Celtics.

Some say Halloween is that it is just a way to sell candy and costumes. This isn’t true because this idea originated with the Celtic people who created Halloween. They would leave candy to ward off evil spirits, and they would dress like goblins and ghouls to make sure the evil spirits wouldn’t catch them.

Another argument against the holiday is that it is sacrilegious and against Christian beliefs. The holiday was originally a Christian holiday used to mourn and remember the dead.

Halloween is a holiday that is loved by many around the world. The holiday is not manufactured but Americanized. We took these ideas from the Irish and Europeans and changed and adapted them with our modern beliefs.

Just like the ghost in your attic, the holiday lives on.
