Stopping the spread of COVID-19

In the United States, cases of COVID-19 first started appearing in the beginning of the year around January and February. When the virus first showed up to the United States and started to spread, there were mixed feelings among the general public.

Lots of people didn’t take it seriously, and others overreacted to the situation, causing panic throughout the public.

With the virus spreading quickly, lots of people were preparing for the worst, and some were doubtful of the whole situation, claiming that it was an overreaction. But was the preparation really a bad thing?

Everybody’s doing it now, including the people who didn’t believe the virus was so serious before. And since more and more people have been following the safety guidelines, the case numbers have been going down.

These basic procedures like using hand sanitizer, wearing a mask and social distancing are helping make a difference. Of course, you could argue that case numbers have still been going up gradually, but you have to take into account that people have started to take this situation less and less seriously, and states and countries have been letting loose on the restrictions of travel, lockdown, social distancing rules in stores, ect.

States lifting the lockdown leads to people going out and about, like caged dogs let loose in an open field.

And these people getting let back out generally leads to higher chances of being around other people. Crowded spaces will show back up, despite the safety guidelines being set out, and there will be more people not following the guidelines, leading to more people spreading COVID-19.

Don’t believe me? Try going to your local Walmart. They’ll most likely require you to wear a mask before letting you in. Then, once you’re in, just take a look around you and keep track of how many people aren’t wearing a mask, how many people aren’t socially distancing and how crowded the store generally is. That’s a major way to help spread the virus and a major risk of getting the virus yourself.

If all those people followed the guidelines, like wearing a mask, using hand-sanitizerDani and social distancing the best they could, then the chances of any of those people getting sick would be significantly lower than it is now.

All the evidence that these safety procedures are helping prevent the spread is right here; it’s just the way some people are handling this situation that are making it seem as though they are not.
