A senior reflects on the journey to state

Being a senior makes football games bittersweet.

This is the last time that as a Panther I can cheer my team on, and this is one year I’ll never forget.

Chapman is going to state.

Not many people that attended Chapman can say they got to travel the road to Williams-Brice Stadium to watch their football team fight for a ring.

Well, I do.

This has been a long hard road, but it was worth it.

From painting up to neon night to not being able to feel my toes, everything has been worth it.

I can remember the first home game, painting up and leaving the game at 10:30 with barely any of my paint on because it was so hot.

I can remember wearing neon leggings wishing I had shorts because it was so hot.

Just last week, I bundled up in my blankets and felt my toes tingle back to feeling.

But I wouldn’t trade it.

I wouldn’t trade all the road trips for anything.

My favorite team is Clemson, but I can honestly say I would never travel, sweat or freeze to watch them play.

Only Chapman.

I am beyond proud of all you boys. You have worked extra hard this season.

There are some games you may have just wanted to give up due to the refs being for the other team, but you didn’t.

The fans didn’t let you.

We cheered you on and you showed the other team that the panthers don’t give up.

I have cried and felt all the pain with y’all. As a fan, I have gone through the same emotions as you have.

Last Friday, it was a close game, but y’all didn’t let that put you down.

Y’all stayed strong and fought for state and you got it.

Saturday will be a tough game, but show them what Panthers have.

For me, saturday is going to be a great but sad time.

I won’t be able to attend football games as a Panther anymore.

I won’t be able to cheer on my Panther class anymore.

We all will go our separate ways, so this last game will be one to remember.

It will be the last time I can freeze and lose my voice cheering for my panthers.

I wouldn’t trade this senior year for anything, and I can thank the football players for a great ride to state.
